Full Service Water Well Drilling

Water is an essential part of our everyday lives. It not only keeps our bodies functioning, but it waters crops, livestock and many other residential and commercial uses. Water is not always accessible on the surface, especially in Utah. Many people rely on ground water for their daily lives and activities. The only way to access this resource below the surface is by well drilling.

Well drilling in Utah has been happening since the early 1800s and has been developed over the years. There are many technologies and techniques used today to ensure the water that is pumped from the ground is safe, clean, consistent and efficient to help decrease cost. Cutting Edge Drilling strives to stand out from competitors in keeping up with the latest education and technologies available for well drilling. We want to give you the best service and drilling experience we can. We do it all. We survey the well area, drill the well, install the well pump, inspect wells, repair wells and pumps, provide maintenance and cleanings and much more. We strive to provide information and resources for water well owners, but please call us with any questions you may have.

Air Rotary Drilling

Air Rotary Drilling

Air Rotary Drilling is a drilling technique used to access underground aquifers and pump water to the surface. This technique uses a drill bit to bore a hole deep into the surface and push out cuttings with air pressure. Cuttings is a term used to describe the soil and materials that are being "cut away" as the drill bit drives deep into the surface.

Some of the advantages of Air Rotary Drilling Are:

  • The compressed air keeps the bore hole clean be removing the cuttings quickly during the drilling process.

  • The cuttings that are brought to the surface all the drillers to understand the material they are working with and make adjustments as needed.

  • As soon as a drill bit hits water it is important to stop drilling to decrease the chance of contamination. With Air rotary drilling, the air brings the water to the surface quickly indicating when to stop drilling and water has been hit.

  • Air rotary drilling is the safest option when it comes to contamination risks not only because of the quick indication of hitting water, but also there is no need to use drilling liquids. Drilling liquids can cause pollution to the groundwater table or aquifer if not handled carefully and in appropriate amounts. Air rotary drilling eliminates this risk.

Cathodic Protection Wells

Similar to most other wells, cathodic protection wells are created by drilling a large bore hole in the ground. This particular well is constructed for the purpose of installing deep anodes to minimize or prevent electrolytic corrosive action of metallic structures installed below ground surface, such as pipelines, transmission lines, well casings, storage tanks, or pilings. Leaks in these locations could be very hazardous if not properly treated and protected. It is important to work with a knowledgeable licensed well drilling contractor. We strive to be as knowledgeable as possible about the latest techniques and technologies to ensure each well is safe from contamination or leaks so the well is safe and healthy.

Please call us if you have any questions or concerns about the safety of your well.

Well Inspections and Testing

Well Inspections and Testing

It is important to have your well tested periodically to make sure the well water has not been contaminated by a potential leak or that bacteria hasn't formed from the minerals in the well water. This testing is to ensure the health and safety of the water you are drinking. If your well water begins to smell or taste odd it is time to get your well inspected by a professional. It is also smart to have your well tested and maintained routinely to prevent more expensive damages down the road. The earlier a leak or issue is detected, the least expensive it will be to repair.

Another reason you may need an inspection is to qualify for state grants to water live stock if you well is not working. We have helped numerous farmers and ranchers get the help they need through grants to be able to water their livestock. The paperwork requires information from a licensed well drilling contractor. We are familiar with this type of assistance and happy to help you get the water you need.
